Faceting a Reflector Profile

This knowledge base article and example file demonstrates a method for creating a symmetric faceted reflector when provided with a profile curve.  The embedded script pseudocode is the following:

  1. User specifies the number of desired facets
  2. The base curve is sampled along its length to retrieve the Cartesian coordinates used for creating the facets
  3. Individual cylindrical facets are created for each “zone” of the base curve
  4. Optical properties are assigned to the facet surfaces

The embedded script can be run by right mouse clicking on the script called “facetCurve” and selecting “Run an embedded script” from the list menu.
