Power vs Wavelength
In analyzing results from simulations involving polychromatic sources and dispersive elements, it may be of interest to examine the power reaching a detector as a function of wavelength. The script associated with this article can be used to generate such a data set after a raytrace. Upon execution, a dialog allows the user to enter a wavelength range of interest, the number of wavelength divisions across the range and select the detector surface of interest from a list of valid surfaces. Two columns of data are printed to the Output Window; the first column contains wavelength sub-bands and the second column contains the power within the sub-band. This data can be copy/pasted into Excel and plotted as a Column-style chart to show a histogram.
